About Me

A few years ago, I did not have the passion or heart for this topic which I call "DIY Green".  I was rushing through life, and oftentimes struggling to make ends meet. To be honest, I sometimes still am as this is a constant journey, but through this journey, I am learning to slow down "the crazy" and find simple, easy and frugal ways to relax and enjoy life.

So how did I get to this place?

Several years ago, I moved in with a friend to save money.  Still looking for extra ways to cut costs, I came across a supposedly cheap and easy recipe for laundry detergent on TV oddly enough.  After some motivation to gather all the ingredients and set aside some time for this venture, I finally made the laundry detergent... I couldn't believe my eyes!  It actually worked.  Two hours of my time and I had enough laundry detergent to get two people through six months of washing clothes!  This was the beginning of my journey.

Even then, it was another two years before this passion of a homemade, green, DIY life really got ahold of me.  Now it is the self satisfaction of making something by hand and turning it into a viable product that I can use everyday that I love.  Finding alternatives to personal hygiene, clothing, home decor, cleaning, food and beauty that better fit my lifestyle and my needs is really exciting for me.

It is a constant journey and is always evolving and changing. My current dream is owning a large piece of land in Colorado and living out the homesteader's complete dream full of animals and eventually getting to self-sustainable status. Even though I'm living in a one bedroom apartment in metro Denver, I still strive to this dream and am taking what steps I can to make a safer, more environmentally friendly place for myself and my family.
